Hannover 96 Sports Director Halts Contract Negotiations After Nine Winless Games

Hannover 96 nine games without a win! Sports director Marcus Mann stops contract poker

Change Rumors in Hannover 96

Recently, rumors of changes have been circulating in Hannover 96. Hendrik Weydandt, the 96 striker, is reportedly a candidate for third division Essen, while Kiel captain Hauke (28) is being considered for the Reds.

Sports director Marcus Mann, however, has put to rest any speculations about players leaving, stating that “no one stands in front of a signature with us.” While Mann was referring to the choice of candidates, it is also applicable to all other players.

Clubs using International Break for Future Decisions

The current international break has given clubs an opportunity to make future decisions about trainers and professionals. For instance, Rostock has just replaced coach Glöckner with ex-Sandhausen coach Schwartz. On the other hand, the Reds continue to trust their current coach, Stefan Leitl, despite a series of games without a win.

Uncertain Future of 96 Players

Some of the 96 players’ future in the club is now uncertain. Players such as Weydandt, Sebastian Kerk, and Jannik Dehm, whose contracts expire in about three months, were supposed to have their contract renewals determined at this time. However, Sports Director Mann announced that “Right now is not the right time for decisions. That’s also difficult in the current phase.”

Exploring Mutual Plans

Mann also said that he plans to talk to the players, though more to explore mutual plans than discuss contract terms or salaries. He also mentioned that the talks would not include the players’ advisors, and that the contract content is usually agreed with them separately.

While it is already clear that higher earners would need to cut back on their salary if they stay, Weydandt expressed calmness and consideration about the matter. He said that there are more important things right now, for him as well.

Winless Series Effect on Future Planning

The Reds’ current winless series has also caused difficulties in future planning. With only six points to the crash sites, Mann said that future planning has been put on hold. Additionally, the contracts of players such as Tim Walbrecht and Gaël Ondoua (both seconded to the U23) are also set to expire.

The future of loan professionals Maxi Beier and Bright Arrey-Mbi is also still uncertain.
