Tina Rupprecht is boxing for the world title: This German teacher knocks everyone out

Teaching and Boxing: Meet Tina Rupprecht, Germany’s Boxing Teacher

Students in Zusmarshausen, in the district of Augsburg, have the privilege of having a physical education teacher with a unique background – Tina Rupprecht. Rupprecht, who is also known as “Tiny Tina,” is a professional boxer and a world champion. She teaches six hours on Mondays and four hours on Tuesdays.

Standing at 1.52 meters tall, Rupprecht is a Strawweight World Champion since 2018, holding the title of the large association WBC. This Sunday, she is fighting for a second world championship belt in Fresno, California, against her opponent Seniesa Estrada. Estrada holds the WBA belt.

As a boxer, Rupprecht has a record of 13 fights, with twelve victories, three of them by knockout. She is the only world champion for men and women in the four major associations (WBC, IBF, WBA, WBO) in Germany.

Despite her busy schedule balancing teaching and boxing, Rupprecht stays motivated and focused in achieving her goal of obtaining all four world championship titles from the four world associations. “Boxing is my main job. With a fight this big, the school management supports me and releases me, making it possible,” Rupprecht stated.

Aside from teaching and boxing, Rupprecht holds a degree in Primary School Teaching from the University of Augsburg, majoring in sports. With a first state exam grade of 1.4, Rupprecht shows exceptional skill and dedication in both her academic and athletic pursuits.

As Rupprecht gears up for this big fight, she hopes to inspire her students with her passion and drive to succeed. “The students sometimes tell me: I saw you in a newspaper article or on television. Very sweet,” Rupprecht shared.

After the fight, Rupprecht plans to take some time off and recover, spending the Bavarian school holidays in Iceland for a well-deserved break.
