Evernote Boosts Prices in Response to Key User Input

Evernote: Listened to core user feedback - raised prices as a result

Bending Spoons, the new owner of Evernote, has announced major innovations in the note-taking application. These are the first announcements since the acquisition of the former market leader in the field of year-end notes. In addition to new functions, these also include increasing prices for the various subscriptions.

Better synchronization and collaboration are among the new features of Evernote. Federico Simionato from Bending Spoons stated that they listened to the feedback from “passionate Evernote users” and are now working through the most frequently mentioned problems. The focus is on the performance and reliability of the note application.

The rollout of a new note sync has already begun. It should now run much more smoothly across the devices used. A new feature is real-time editing. With it, it should be possible to work on the same document on several devices at the same time. The company sees the feature as a first step toward reliable, real-time collaboration with others. The feature will be available from May 5th.

The AI trend does not stop at Evernote either. At least Simionato admits that the current hype brings with it an “unpleasant tendency to innovate for the sake of innovation. The announced AI functions, such as AI Note Cleanup, should therefore remain opt-in to give users the choice of whether they want to allow an AI model to view their notes. The rollout starts immediately, and everyone can test the function for a month before it is only available to paying customers.

Evernote increases the costs for all subscription levels. Monthly billing for the Personal Subscription therefore costs EUR 12.99 with immediate effect, and EUR 99.99 for an annual subscription. If you want the larger Professional subscription, you have to shell out 14.99 euros (monthly) or 129.99 euros (per year). The new price levels are effective immediately for new customers and from the end of May for existing customers.

The takeover of Evernote by the Italian company Bending Spoons was announced at the end of last year. The company hopes to revamp Evernote and bring it back to its former glory with these new features and innovations.
