Eight winners left, but who will replace the three elected deputies of Hidalgo?

“Anne Hidalgo delighted after left-wing victory in Paris Senatorial elections”
Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo expressed her pleasure after her camp emerged victorious in the Senatorial elections in Paris. The components of the municipal majority claimed two-thirds of the capital’s seats. Among the eight left-wing senators heading to the Palais du Luxembourg are three of Hidalgo’s deputies: Anne Souyris, in charge of public health, Ian Brossat, responsible for housing, and Colombe Brossel, who previously held the cleanliness portfolio. In addition to these notable figures from the Parisian executive, the left-wing list also includes European Parliament member Yannick Jadot, former presidential candidate, and Remi Feraud, the incumbent socialist senator. The divided right-wing secured four seats, while the majority party failed to win any.

“Mairie de Paris to reshuffle its executive following Senatorial elections”
The Paris City Hall will now have to rearrange its executive team. According to our sources, Jacques Baudrier of the Communist Party, currently in charge of construction, could take over the housing portfolio, and has confirmed his keen interest in the position. Antoine Guillou, a Socialist and current deputy responsible for human resources, is expected to replace Colombe Brossel, while Olivia Polski, in charge of commerce, may assume the human resources portfolio. This delegation could be handed over to Nicolas Bonnet-Ouladj, the president of the Communist group, who recently published a book entitled “Fabriquer à Paris.” Regarding the Green Party, it remains uncertain. However, according to our information, Anne-Claire Boux, the current deputy for disadvantaged neighborhoods, might take on the health portfolio, which would remain in the hands of the Green Party.

“LR secures three seats”
The right-wing in Paris entered the Senatorial elections divided. Incumbent senator Pierre Charon, who was the official LR candidate in the previous elections, presented his own list after failing to secure an eligible position, but was unsuccessful. The president of the Les Républicains (LR) federation in Paris, Agnès Evren, also presented her own list following internal disagreements. Supported by LR Mayor of the 15th arrondissement of Paris Philippe Goujon and Paris Centrist elected officials, she obtained a comfortable score of 330 votes, more than the hundred required to win a seat. The official LR list, supported by the mayor of the 7th arrondissement and leader of the opposition in Paris, Rachida Dati, secured three seats: incumbent senator Catherine Dumas, mayor of the 16th arrondissement Francis Szpiner, and elected official of the 14th arrondissement Marie-Claire Carrère-Gée.
