However, after a recent 3-1 win in Dortmund, those hopes are being dug up once again. The team is still unbeaten in 2023 and only three points behind a direct promotion place. Suddenly, something is working again.
Stefan Kutschke, the team’s striker, has sensed that they are on the right track. However, he is quick to add that it was not an easy journey. The first half of the season was not good, and the team received criticism from the media and internally. But they learned from their mistakes.
Kutschke, who had only scored two goals in 16 games in 2022, has scored six times in nine games this year, bringing his goal count to eight. He wants more, though. He explains, “The question is, how can we get even better? That’s the point now.”
Kutschke adds that every win gives the team more self-confidence and power. The last few weeks have been focused on promotion, but the team is aware that there will be direct duels in the future. For now, they are focusing on their next game against Duisburg on Wednesday.
