The latest issue of the “We Are Developers!” magazine has been released for free download. Aimed at professional software developers and anyone interested in current topics in the field, the magazine features eight authors who contribute to the 44-page booklet.
One of the highlights of the issue is a conversation with software architect Golo Roden, who shares his mixed feelings about Mastodon from a technical standpoint. Roden tried to set up his own instance of the decentralized social media alternative, but encountered unexpected obstacles like outdated modules, lack of documentation, and poorly thought-out structures.
The magazine also includes a deep dive into copyright law with IT and copyright lawyer Dr. Till Jaeger, who delves into the legal issues surrounding AI image generation. The authors share their experiences and insights on Mastodon and AI copyright, as well as JavaScript, Python, Rust for the Linux kernel, and agile practice with developer platforms.
The magazine also provides a platform for young professionals and new writers to publish their first articles in printed form. The editors of heise Developer offer feedback and support throughout the writing process, and new articles in the Young Professionals series are published monthly online.
The “We Are Developers!” magazine is published three times a year, with the summer edition in English. The spring issue is included as an insert with iX and c’t, and is available for free download from the iX website. Anyone interested in sharing their professional experience or specialist knowledge is welcome to suggest an article to the editors.
