Disney’s All-New ‘The Aristocats’ Remake: A Musical Extravaganza Helmed by an Oscar-Winning Director

Bob Iger’s Return and Disney’s Emphasis on Quality

Bob Iger has returned to the leadership position at Disney with a new motto: “let’s calm down.” The CEO has made it a priority to prioritize quality over quantity, despite the company’s continued production of live-action remakes of classic animated films.

‘The Aristocats’ Remake Still in Production

Over a year ago, it was announced that the next film to receive a live-action remake would be ‘The Aristocats,’ the 1970 animated classic directed by Wolfgang Reitherman. Recently, it was reported that the movie is still in production and has found its director: Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson.

Questlove Takes the Reins

Questlove is a musician, actor, and director with an impressive resume. He won the Oscar for Best Documentary Film for ‘Summer of Soul’ and has worked with artists such as Jay-Z, Madonna, and Iggy Pop. He was also part of the music department for Disney’s ‘Soul’ and acted in various movies and TV shows, including ‘Popstar’ and ‘Park and Recreation.’

Hybrid Film in the Works

‘The Aristocats’ remake will be a hybrid between live-action and CGI. With Questlove at the helm, it will be interesting to see how the movie turns out, especially since there are concerns about racist representations in the original film. No release date has been announced for the project yet.

Upcoming Disney Films

While it may be a while until we can see ‘The Aristocats’ remake, there are plenty of upcoming live-action movies to look forward to, including ‘The Little Mermaid,’ ‘Peter Pan & Wendy,’ ‘Snow White,’ a sequel to ‘The Lion King,’ and Guy Ritchie’s ‘Hercules.’
