DHfK’s Winning Streak Comes to an End in Brutal Handball Bundesliga Game

Handball Bundesliga: DHfK's winning streak ends after brutal game

The end of SC DHfK Leipzig’s winning streak

The Handball Bundesliga saw a turning point as the winless series of Erlangen against the SC DHfK Leipzig comes to an end. Despite four consecutive wins, Leipzig experienced disappointment again, losing 32-36.

Violent Start

The game began with a rough start as after ten minutes, Firnhaber of Erlangen got red-carded for hitting Simon Ernst’s face with his elbow. The host’s handball continued to be brutal as Link hit Viggo Kristjansson in the neck and was also sent off with a red card in the 13th minute.

Double Red

The DHfK could not take advantage of the double red cards as they got caught up in the rough play, losing their three-goal lead and receiving two time penalties for complaining. Coach Runar Sigtryggsson made changes, with Pascal Bochmann replacing Kristian Saeveraas in goal, and Oskar Sunnefeldt making a comeback in the backcourt.

An Overall Disappointing Performance

Despite the changes, the team struggled to make headway, falling behind 17-19 at the midpoint. Bochmann played exceptionally well, but the team failed to turn things around in what was an overall disappointing performance.
