When the photo equipment gets larger, the question inevitably arises: What do I take with me on the photo tour? Because only with the equipment you have with you can you take the pictures you imagine. We selected seven current photo backpacks for our practical test.

Capacity ranges from a body with an interchangeable lens to extensive photo equipment with multiple bodies and more than five lenses. What they all have in common is that they are (at least) water-repellent and have a compartment for a notebook. The price range goes from 90 to almost 500 euros.

Reasons for the rucksack
Shoulder bags, trolleys, or rucksacks offer good protection for photographic equipment. What you are best served with depends primarily on the intended use.

Inside buildings or for ground-level transport, for example to the car, a trolley is the most relaxed option. The fact that you have to lay it flat to open it is considered a disadvantage by some users. It’s not a good choice on rough terrain.

A shoulder bag is the best choice for short distances, small to medium-sized equipment, and a flexible, quick lens or battery change. However, the one-sided load on the spine is a counter-argument.
