Childs’ Basket Beast Secures Tower’s 89-87 Victory and Round of 16 in EuroCup

Towers 89:87 in the EuroCup: basket monster Childs secures the round of 16

Joy and Relief for Hamburg’s Basketball Team

The Towers roared everything out, as Hamburg’s basketball players secured their place in the knockout stage of the EuroCup. Focused on battling relegation in the Bundesliga, the team still managed to beat out Trento (Italy) with a score of 89:87 (44:45) in the last home game of the main round to make it to the next stage.

The next game, scheduled for April 12, will see them face off against Ukrainians from Prometey Slobozhanske. Due to the ongoing war in their home country, they play all their home games in Riga/Latvia or Kaunas/Lithuania.

“I’m proud of the team,” said coach Benka Barloschky. “She was rewarded for the hard work she puts into training every day.”

To heat up the atmosphere, the Towers invited 600 young people from the club. In the meantime, the 1862 fans even let La Ola circle, spilling their energy onto the hall floor. The nine-man mini-squad worked endlessly, countered every Italian run, and dominated the baskets.

The standout performance came from center Yoeli Childs, who landed 18 points and 20 rebounds. “He was a monster,” praised Barloschky. “That was by far his best game.”

While the team will face their first relegation final in the league on Saturday against Frankfurt, Barloschky emphasized that for now, the team should just enjoy the win.
