BVB’s Tullberg: A Frankfurt Candidate with a Hint of Klopp

BVB: Candidate in Frankfurt: So much Klopp is in Tullberg

Dortmund’s Next Hot Coaching Share: U19 Coach Mike Tullberg

The future of Eintracht Frankfurt’s head coach Oliver Glasner remains uncertain, and U19 Dortmund coach, Mike Tullberg, is emerging as a potential candidate to replace him. With a contract until 2026, Tullberg is being touted as the successor to Glasner, should he leave the Bundesliga club in the summer. So, what kind of coach is this Dane, and what are his coaching qualities?

Coaching Style

Tullberg’s coaching style is reminiscent of Dortmund’s ex-successful coach Jürgen Klopp. He can erupt on the sidelines like a volcano, become very loud and gesticulate wildly, all patterns of behavior that also apply to Klopp. Tullberg is also similar to the Liverpool coach in his speech. He is crystal clear and manages to make his talents really hot.

Coaching Record

Tullberg took over the U19 at BVB in 2020 and has been undefeated in the league since then. He recorded 29 wins and only six draws in 35 games, probably a record for eternity. He also made it to the quarter-finals of the Uefa Youth League twice in a row, narrowly missing out on the title.

With Youssoufa Moukoko (18), Jamie Bynoe-Gittens (19), and Ansgar Knauff (21), Tullberg has already polished some gems for the Bundesliga where they will defend their championship title with U19 side. The team remains unbeaten and will meet Hertha in the semifinals. The first leg is on April 10 in Berlin, with the second leg five days later in Dortmund.

For his part, Tullberg himself decided to extend his stay with Dortmund until 2026 and continue to develop talent. His coaching skills and impressive record are making his stock rise, similar to Klopp after his double success in 2012.

In conclusion, the 37-year-old Danish coach is a hot coaching prospect and could be one to watch in the coming years. As he continues to develop young talent at Dortmund, his name is sure to crop up in discussions for head coaches, both in Germany and elsewhere.
