RB Leipzig: Curious Plan! How Barcelona Want to Land Dani Olmo

Barcelona have been eyeing the services of Dani Olmo since the Catalan club withdrew from the race to sign the Spanish U21 international from Dinamo Zagreb in January 2020. The winger ultimately joined RB Leipzig for €20 million, but the Blaugrana have remained interested in the player.

According to Sport, Barcelona is now exploring a strange plan to bring Olmo back to the Camp Nou. The club is prepared to offer Leipzig a percent of any future sale as part of a loan deal.

It is unclear how much Barcelona is willing to pay Leipzig or what percentage of any future sale the German club would receive. However, the report indicates that Barcelona administration believes the unique proposal may convince Leipzig to part ways with Olmo temporarily.

Olmo has been a consistent performer since his arrival in Germany, scoring eight goals and supplying 10 assists in all competitions. The 23-year-old has also become a regular for Spain, having appeared in all of their Euro 2020 games so far.

The player himself said earlier this month that he is focused on RB Leipzig for the time being. “I am happy at RB Leipzig and am eager to continue.

Barcelona, meanwhile, is currently under financial strain, and a long-term loan deal with a future sale percentage could be a more suitable option than paying for Olmo outright.

It remains to be seen whether this unusual plan will come to fruition, but it certainly gives an indication of how desperately Barcelona wants to bring Olmo back to the Camp Nou.
