Auto China Shanghai 2023 Sneak Peek

Preview of Auto China in Shanghai 2023

The “Auto China” show, which alternates between Beijing and Shanghai, will be an international exhibition once again after three years of being a national event due to the pandemic. Shanghai has long been the most significant car market in terms of speed, design, and technology, with many international car manufacturers looking to it for the latest trends. The show, which runs from April 18th to 27th, will see the Chinese auto brands leading the charge with numerous innovative and new products.

While American manufacturers are usually represented by their Chinese partners, the European groups and individual brands’ representatives are largely on-site. BMW, for example, is showcasing several innovations relevant to the world’s largest car market, such as the electric top model of the new 7 series called the i7 M70 xDrive and the 748 hp powerful SUV BMW XM Red Label. Mercedes, on the other hand, will not be presenting its new E-Class in China. Still, its visitors can admire the electric Maybach EQS SUV, one class higher than the Porsche Cayenne.

Volkswagen is also unveiling its new electric version of the high-volume Passat model, the VW ID.7, at the show. Renault and Cupra are showcasing their new Clio and Tavascan cars, respectively. Meanwhile, the most exciting cars are coming from purely Chinese brands such as Nio, MG, Aiways, Xpeng, Zeekr, and Great Wall, which could put pressure on domestic car brands in Europe in the future.

The Nio EC7 electric car, for instance, will be showcased, and it is rumored to drive semi-autonomously. The show is a must-attend event for the automotive industry, with many visitors eagerly anticipating the latest trends and innovations from Chinese manufacturers.
