07:51 – BLOCKAGES ON THE A51
A convoy of farmers is currently on the A51 and is heading towards Aix-en-Provence. Among the protesters are farmers from Bouches-du-Rhône and Vaucluse. “I am here to demand a revaluation of French products, produced in France, compared to foreign products. It is not right for foreign products to be sold much cheaper,” laments Alessia, a market gardener, speaking to TF1’s morning show.

07:47 – FURTHER BLOCKADES
“The blockades will continue until we get answers to the questions we have asked,” warns Arnaud Rousseau, President of the FNSEA (National Federation of Agricultural Holding Unions), on RTL. “Our goal is to put pressure on the government, not to make life difficult for the French,” he assures. “We do not want violence,” he adds.

07:29 – MOVEMENT’S SIGNIFICANCE
“When we decided to block the highway, no one supported us. It was our personal responsibility. We really did not think the movement would gain such significance,” assures Jérôme Bayle, a cattle farmer in Haute-Garonne. “Now the wheel is in motion. The unions are taking charge again. It is up to them to take advantage of it and continue the fight for the well-being of French agriculture,” he adds on LCI. Personally, the farmer is stepping back from the movement. “I am all alone on my farm. It was my 75-year-old mother who looked after the cows. For now, it is over,” he explains.
