An International Coalition to Help Secure the Olympics in France

Several foreign nations, including Poland, will be sending military personnel to help secure the Olympic Games in Paris this summer. France is on high alert against the threat of attacks, as confirmed by the French Ministry of the Armed Forces on Thursday, March 28.

These foreign nations will reinforce critical areas such as canine capabilities, where the needs are significant during the Olympics. This practice is common, as French gendarmes had previously participated in securing sites during the World Cup in Qatar.

Earlier, the Polish Minister of Defense announced that Poland would be sending military reinforcements to assist in securing the Olympic Games in Paris. The Polish armed forces will join the international coalition led by France to support the preparation and security of the 2024 Summer Olympics.

According to the spokesperson for the Polish army, decisions have already been made to build a task force for the Olympics. French Chief of the Defense Staff, Thierry Burkhard, visited Poland on Thursday to discuss the coordination of efforts.

Following the terrorist attack in Moscow where 143 people died, the French government immediately raised the Vigipirate plan to its highest level, “emergency attack,” just four months before the Paris Olympics.
