An American Faces Life in Prison After Wedding of the Century in Paris

The newlywed is accused of threatening three police officers with a firearm last March. He appeared before the district court in Texas on November 30th.

Images of the celebration went viral on social media. American Jacob LaGrone, who gained recent fame for organizing a wedding in Paris worth over 50 million euros on November 18th, could face up to 25 years in prison, according to American media.

The 29-year-old Texan is accused of threatening three police officers on March 14th with a firearm. The indictment specifies that Jacob LaGrone “intentionally or knowingly threatened” the officers with “bodily harm.” An act punishable by a maximum sentence of life in prison.

A five-day wedding

The city of Westworth Village, Texas, detailed in a statement that the three police officers were responding to “disturbances” calls when they “came under fire.”

The man appeared in front of a district court in Texas on Thursday, November 30th, and, according to court documents reviewed by NBC, was offered a 25-year plea deal. His wife, 26-year-old Madelaine Brockway, a wealthy heiress of a car dealership, was not present in court during this hearing, according to American media.

Dubbed “the wedding of the century” by the press, the union of the American couple impressed internet users with its extraordinary five-day program, including a privatization of the Château de Versailles and the Opéra Garnier, as well as a private concert by the group Maroon 5.

According to estimates, this wedding would have cost 59 million dollars, or 54 million euros.
