A LFI member reaches out to the Paris education authority

Rodrigo Arenas, the deputy of Paris, announced on Friday, January 12 that he has contacted the rectorate to “verify the denigrating comments” made by Amélie Oudéa-Castera about the public school in Littré, located in the 6th arrondissement of Paris.

Following the remarks that he deems “denigrating” by Amélie Oudéa-Castera, the new Minister of National Education and Youth, about the public school in Littré, located in the 6th arrondissement of the capital, Paris deputy Rodrigo Arenas announced on Twitter on Friday, January 12 that he has contacted the rector of the Academy of Paris.

“In my capacity as deputy of Paris, I am concerned about this state of affairs. Therefore, I am reaching out to you in order to have a precise understanding of the situation of this school,” he stated in his letter to the rectorate. “A bunch of hours not adequately replaced”

On Friday, a few hours before the letter from Rodrigo Arenas, Amélie Oudéa-Castera had talked about her decision to enroll her children in the private school Collège-Lycée Stanislas in Paris, an educational institution located in the 6th arrondissement. She mentioned that her oldest son, Vincent, had “started, like his mom, at the public school, Littré,” before switching to a private school because of the “bunch of hours that were not adequately replaced.”

“We lived on Stanislas street, and enrolling our children in Stanislas was a choice based on proximity.”

In May 2023, the Ministry of Education had contacted the General Inspection and issued a call for testimonies after accusations of homophobic and sexist behavior were reported in the press regarding the Collège-Lycée Stanislas.
