Avision’s MetaMobile 20 has been tested and found to be a reliable portable feed scanner for documents. This small device does not require additional support from a PC or smartphone, making it an autonomous mobile device ideal for libraries and archives.
Weighing approximately 600 grams, the MetaMobile 20 is easily portable. The device has a removable lithium-ion battery charged by its USB interface and accepts SDHC memory cards with a capacity of up to 32 GB. Avision supplies a 32 GB medium.
The MetaMobile 20 creates its own open WLAN, accessible by connecting a notebook or smartphone to the SSID of the Avision scanner. Access to the scanned documents on the memory card is granted by entering 10.10.100.1 in the URL field of a browser. These documents can be viewed and downloaded via PhotoView.
However, the MetaMobile 20 is unable to scan app-controlled via WLAN or integrate into an existing WLAN. Usage on a PC requires the enclosed USB cable and deactivation of the WLAN via a switch located on the right side of the scanner. The scanner can be switched to PC mode by pressing the Scan/OK button.
It has been noted that the MetaMobile 20 creates high-quality scans of single-sheet documents on both sides. The test results agree that it is a reliable device for feeding scanning.
