Xavi Simons in Paris, the big news!

Xavi Simons will return to PSG at the end of the season. The Dutchman is expected to finally be able to establish himself there.

Paris Saint-Germain will likely be able to console themselves for the departure of Kylian Mbappé with another great talent from European football. And he knows him better than anyone! Xavi Simons, loaned this season to Leipzig, where he has already scored 6 goals and provided 7 assists after dominating the Dutch championship in 2022-2023, will return to Paris. This is what RB Leipzig’s sporting director, Rouven Schröder, indicated on Sunday, speaking to Sky Deutschland.

“Xavi will return to PSG at the end of the season. It is not an 18-month loan. We will have the opportunity to offer a new loan next season, but I am not optimistic. It will depend on Paris and what they want to do after the Mbappé saga.”

A future star to replace the stars

The time may have come for the Dutchman, who will celebrate his 21st birthday in April, to make his mark in the capital club, after appearing only 11 times in a team then made up of a constellation of stars.

With Mbappé’s departure, which follows last summer’s departures of Neymar and Messi, the situation has already changed and will change even more. Paris, with Luis Enrique at the helm, will presumably not hesitate to trust him and install him as a starter next season.

Simons, whose talent is no longer in doubt after his phenomenal spell at PSV and his performances in the national team, where he was the youngest player from the Netherlands at the last World Cup, had never closed the door to a return to PSG. Unless plans change, this will be the case in a few months and his story with the City of Light can truly begin. Xavi Simons was recruited at the age of 16 in 2019, while he was a student at the FC Barcelona’s La Masia academy.
