Electromobility: Tesla produces 5,000 electric cars a week in Grünheide

Tesla Reaches Half Its First Production Target in Germany

Tesla announced on Twitter on Saturday that it has reached half of its first production target in Germany. Its Grünheide plant, located near Berlin, is currently producing 5,000 cars per week, equivalent to around 250,000 vehicles per year. In its first stage of expansion, the company plans to produce 500,000 cars annually, or roughly 10,000 a week, with the end goal of producing one million cars per year.

The plant in Grünheide has been producing electric cars for about a year, with production rates reaching around 4,000 cars a week. The facility currently employs around 10,000 people and aims to significantly expand both its production capacity and workforce over time.

Tesla’s first application for partial approval has already been submitted to the Brandenburg State Office for the Environment. However, environmentalists have voiced concerns about the expansion, as a part of the site falls under a water protection area. The company states that it will not require any additional water for the expansion, as it plans to treat the wastewater itself.

As Tesla continues to expand its production capabilities in Europe, it’s important that the company balances its growth with environmental concerns, especially when it comes to critical water resources. Nonetheless, the recent production growth is an impressive milestone for the electric car manufacturer and demonstrates its ability to scale its operations and achieve its ambitious goals.
