The Anticipated Arrival of Wes Anderson’s New Film: Asteroid City

Wes Anderson’s unmistakable style has made him one of the most recognizable directors in Hollywood. The director, known for films such as ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ and ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’, is now back with his first science fiction project. ‘Asteroid City’ has become one of the most anticipated films of 2023, and following its trailer release, it’s easy to see why.

The impressive cast, including Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson, Willem Dafoe, Jeff Goldblum, Jason Schwartzman, Jeffrey Wright, Adrien Brody, Tilda Swinton, Edward Norton, Bryan Cranston, Liev Schreiber, Maya Hawke, and Tony Revolori, promises to wow audiences.

Unfortunately, Bill Murray, who was due to participate, contracted COVID just before filming, leaving him unable to join the cast.

In ‘Asteroid City’, Anderson takes us back to 1955 to an annual convention that commemorates the impact of a meteorite in the area on September 23, 3007 BC. When a UFO and an alien arrive in the area, the United States Government decrees a quarantine in the town, leading to complications.

The majority of the film was shot in Spain, with Chinchón being the main filming location. This has aroused the curiosity of locals, who are delighted at the idea of identifying the settings used for the occasion.

The world premiere of ‘Asteroid City’ will be taking place at the Cannes Film Festival. However, we will have to wait until June 23 for it to be released in Spanish cinemas.
