Valérie Pécresse advocates for a 400,000 spectator limit

Valérie Pécresse has demanded that the event also end as early as possible in the evening to avoid disrupting public transportation too much. She stated during the mobility committee for the Olympic Games that she wishes to limit the number of spectators to 400,000 and keep the ceremony to three hours. Pécresse emphasized that the ceremony should ideally finish no later than 10:30 pm.

The event is set to take place on July 26th, 2024 along the Seine river in the capital city. Pécresse, who is also the president of Île-de-France Mobilités, expressed concerns about the off-competition celebration sites.

She stressed the importance of starting the opening ceremony early and limiting the maximum number of spectators to 400,000 in order to ensure their efficient evacuation afterward. Pécresse mentioned that closing the ceremony early is crucial as the evacuation process will take several hours.

Discussions are ongoing regarding the Champions Park at the Trocadéro, with Pécresse underlining the need to move it to the early afternoon on July 30th, and August 9th and 10th. She also mentioned that they are in close communication with Paris 2024.
