Universal Controls Malfunction on Latest iPadOS and macOS Updates

Bug: Universal controls fail on recent iPadOS and macOS versions

Apple’s Universal Control feature, available on macOS 12.3 and iPadOS 15.4, has caused numerous problems in current operating systems. According to reports, since installing macOS 13.3 and iPadOS 16.4, users have encountered numerous errors with the feature. Notably, even after turning off Handoff, WLAN, and Bluetooth, the feature continues to malfunction.

The Universal Control feature is designed to enable Macs and iPads to be seamlessly controlled with a keyboard and mouse/trackpad. With the feature, users can control both devices with the same Apple ID and switch the mouse cursor between them.

However, since the latest operating system updates, the Universal Control function has not been working correctly. Despite numerous reports in the Apple forum, the company has not yet released any information about the error.

Apple users facing difficulties with the feature can experimentally try trouble-shooting solutions like switching off Universal Control, WLAN, and Bluetooth and logging out and back into iCloud. However, these workarounds may not be effective.

While macOS 13.3 and iPadOS 16.4 fixed various bugs, including unreliable SMB connections, some users continue to encounter problems. The company has not yet released any new updates or solutions to address the Universal Control issue.
