Train from Paris to Clermont breaks down with over 5 hours delay, a thousand passengers stranded in darkness and without heating

The last train between Paris and Clermont-Ferrand, Friday, January 19, is broken down north of Nevers, in Nièvre, reports France Bleu Pays d’Auvergne, which specifies that around 1,000 passengers are left in the dark since there is no more electricity. The heating no longer works. The SNCF mentions a locomotive problem and announced at 11:15 pm that the delay is estimated at nearly six hours. Departing at 6:57 pm from Paris-Bercy, the Intercités train was supposed to arrive in Clermont-Ferrand at 10:31 pm. The SNCF foresees an arrival during the night at 4:21 am. The train is being repaired between Montargis, in Loiret, and Nevers, in Nièvre. The railway company announces that the Red Cross is on site to distribute hot drinks and survival blankets. Another train is being transported to pick up the passengers and complete the journey. Its arrival at the level of the broken down train is scheduled for 12:30 am. This incident caused disruptions on another train providing the connection between Paris-Bercy and Nevers. Departing at 7:02 pm, it was supposed to arrive at Nevers at 9:33 pm. It will be 6 hours late with an arrival planned at 3:33 am. It is currently stuck at Montargis station without any electrical or heating problems.
