The Paris Street Repair Contest

Paris launches a competition to identify damaged or missing street signs

The City of Paris recently initiated a participatory campaign, beginning on December 18th and continuing until February 4th, 2024, aimed at compiling a comprehensive list of defective or missing street signs in the capital. This initiative, announced on December 21st, 2023, mobilizes Parisians and city visitors to contribute through the “DansMaRue” application.

Participate to improve urban orientation

The process, called a “participatory campaign,” encourages citizens to use the dedicated application to report all missing or damaged street signs. The City of Paris aims to obtain a complete picture of the situation of indicative signs in the territory, crucial information to improve the orientation of residents and visitors, especially in preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games.

A competition with attractive rewards

To encourage participation, the City of Paris offers additional motivation: participants reporting the highest number of missing or damaged signs will have the chance to win a “personalized street sign.” This competition represents a unique opportunity to contribute to urban life while having the possibility of receiving a significant reward.

How to participate and the criteria to follow

Participating in the competition requires downloading the “DansMaRue” application. However, for the reports to be eligible, they must meet certain criteria, particularly regarding the type of sign concerned. Enameled, green and blue plates, as well as those made of lava stone, are the specific targets of this campaign.

In addition, each report must be accompanied by a photo clearly illustrating the situation, as well as a detailed description of the location with geolocation and a relevant comment. These elements will contribute to ensuring the quality of the data collected and facilitating the planning of repair actions.

A citizen gesture for the improvement of the urban landscape

This initiative encourages the residents of Paris to play an active role in improving their urban environment by reporting missing or damaged street signs. Beyond the competition, it highlights the importance of collaboration between the municipality and citizens to maintain the city in an optimal state and offer a pleasant living experience for all.

By participating in this competition, you not only contribute to the beautification of Paris but also to the efficiency of urban orientation, an essential aspect for the daily life of residents and visitors. So, get your smartphones ready to make Paris an even more welcoming city!
