Basketball and Victor Wembanyama fans will be happy: the San Antonio Spurs want to come play in Paris! The rumor has been growing for several days: the team where the French player is based is expected to play one or two NBA games in the capital in 2025.

“We are enthusiastic and happy at the idea of being able to play in France, and in Paris,” says San Antonio Spurs owner Peter J. Holt, who was in the capital, on franceinfo. “If it were up to us, I would confirm it for you right away,” explains the owner of the Texas franchise.

“The final decision is up to the NBA but it’s looking pretty good.”

So the only thing left is the confirmation from the big North American basketball league. In any case, the Spurs’ desire is there, and it is clear. France has become an “important” market for the North American league. On January 11, an NBA game took place in Paris for the third time since 2020. The Cleveland Cavaliers won against the Brooklyn Nets (111-102) in front of 15,000 spectators crowded into the Accor Arena.
