The number of medals France can hope for at the 2024 Paris Olympics

As the Paris 2024 Olympic Games (July 26 – August 11) approach, the National Sports Agency (ANS) and Gracenote Institute have projected the chances of the French delegation winning medals. According to the ANS, based on the performances of the French in international competitions, France would win 17 gold, 23 silver, and 21 bronze medals, for a total of 61, placing them 5th in the virtual medal tally worldwide.

To arrive at this result, the ANS took into consideration the host country’s multiplier coefficient, the home advantage, ranging from 1.5 to 2.3 compared to the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

Gracenote More Optimistic than ANS. On the other hand, the Gracenote Institute is more optimistic. Unlike the ANS, Gracenote conducted a simulation, taking into account results from the London Olympics (2012) to predict the number of medals nations would win at the event, including the “host country” factor. France is expected to win 27 gold, 17 silver, and 9 bronze medals, for a total of 53, which would place them 3rd in the virtual global medal tally.

A Better Result Than Tokyo at Paralympic Games. As for the Paralympic Games, the ANS projects a better performance than at the last Summer Games. According to the National Sports Agency, France would win 21 gold, 22 silver, and 40 bronze medals, totaling 83, positioning them 9th in the virtual global medal count. For comparison, the French delegation won 11 gold medals in Tokyo (54 total).
