The mysterious reasons behind Kelyan’s death in a crack den shelter in Paris

What happened to Kelyan on that fateful July 4, 2021 in Paris, in that make-shift cabin serving as a refuge for crack users, under the elevated metro bridge at Jaurès (XIXe)? It was there that the body of this 22-year-old disabled man was found, five days after he went missing. This question, which has haunted his family for over two and a half years, was explored on the second day of the trial of three former drug addicts, being tried in Paris for attempted robbery with violence resulting in death without the intention to do so. But the discussions did not shed light on the matter.

It was a volunteer who discovered the body on the evening of July 8. Kelyan was found lying on his back on a filthy mattress, arms slightly raised towards the sky. Rumors began to spread in the neighborhood: Kelyan had reportedly been strangled and sexually assaulted by “crackheads”, it was whispered.
