The Grand Prizes of Creation of the City of Paris reward the cream of the crop creators from the worlds of fashion, design, and crafts. A total of seven awards are presented, three “Grand Prizes” (established creators), three “Emerging Talents”, and for the second consecutive year, a prize dedicated to Fashion Accessories, with the support of ADC (Beyond Leather). The lucky winners each receive a grant of 18,000 euros, space in the Première Classe exhibition, and national and international visibility thanks to the event’s numerous media partners.

For this 2023 edition, the Fashion jury, composed of former laureates and professionals from the industry, was chaired by the famous fashion designer and designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. On Tuesday, September 12, 2023, the names of the winners of the 2023 City of Paris Grand Prizes were revealed with a drum roll!

Clara Daguin is a 2.0 creator. Her specialty? Blending technology and fashion. Born in France, she grew up in the heart of Silicon Valley, surrounded by the electronic circuits that her engineer father would leave lying around the house. With his help, she designed a luminous installation dress exhibited at the Première Vision trade show in 2018, a pivotal moment in her career, just like her participation in the Hyères Festival in 2016, after which she created her own brand.

Fashion has always been part of Clara’s life, but her vision and style truly took shape during her fashion design studies in Paris and her stay in India, where embroidery strongly inspired her. Her creations shine with their unique combination of technology and craftsmanship, illustrated by a visionary fashion show in January 2023.

“It’s about communicating through light, making clothing come alive and interactive,” C.D.

Clara Daguin is the perfect embodiment of creative obstinacy, dusting off established codes in the fashion world.

“Clara bridges the gap between Haute Couture and High Technology… She electrifies Haute Couture,” Jean-Charles de Castelbajac.

Furthermore, the designer will unveil a luminous installation to the public at the end of the year. Stay tuned, we’ll tell you more very soon!

The “Emerging Talent” prize for Fashion goes to VAILLANT, by Alice Vaillant.

Alice Vaillant also has an atypical path. Formerly a ballerina, she devoted her childhood and adolescence to dance until the passion faded away.

Alice then pivoted towards her love for fabrics and clothing. She sewed herself a new dream, taking classes, working with a tailor, and obtaining a diploma from the Atelier Chardon Savard in 2019. Her label was born, combining fluidity and femininity in a harmony of lace, draping, and embroidery. Women feel sublimated in her creations. There is also a focus on traceability and the environment.

“The lace comes from deadstocks, the packaging is made from recycled materials, 30% of the production is made in France…” A.V.

Her success spread on social media, and three years after her first collection, her studio was able to invest in a vibrant creative space in the 11th arrondissement of the capital. The designer has also won the hearts of six collaborators, with whom she is gradually carving out her place in the fashion scene.

VAILLANT will showcase during Paris Fashion Week on September 26, 2023.

The “Accessories Prize” is awarded to DOMESTIQUE, by Simon Delacour and Bastien Beny.

Simon Delacour and Bastien Beny launched Domestique in 2016, their Paris-made leather goods brand. Their passion for quality and “Made in France” guides them, as do the four employees who share their journey.

The thirty-something creatives met 18 years ago at the École de Condé in Paris. Although their paths diverged, their shared ambition to subvert everyday objects brought them together in 2015 to create Domestique. Inspired by sadomasochistic bondage, their first collection made a lasting impression.

Today, they not only rely on being creators of provocative accessories but also explore new horizons while advocating for ultra-local production. Domestique embodies a creative vision and an indomitable passion for authenticity and quality.

In the other categories, the winners in Design are Julie Richoz and Juliette Berthonneau, while Morgane Baroghel-Crucq and Solenne Jolivet are honored in the Crafts section.
