The Disappearance and Reappearance of a 750,000 Euro Ring in a Ritz Hotel Room

A wealthy Malaysian tourist had filed a complaint on Friday after a luxurious ring disappeared from her hotel room at the Ritz in Paris. The five-star hotel then announced that the jewel had been found in a vacuum cleaner bag, denying any attempt of theft by one of its employees.

The missing diamond ring, valued at 750,000 euros, had disappeared from one of the rooms at the renowned and luxurious Ritz hotel in Paris. However, the ring was subsequently found in a vacuum cleaner bag. The customer reported the disappearance of the jewel to the Paris-Centre police station on Friday, but it was surprisingly discovered in a vacuum cleaner bag.

The hotel confirmed that “thanks to the meticulous work of our security personnel, the ring was found this morning” and denied any involvement of its employees in a theft attempt. The customer, a businesswoman from Malaysia, expressed her joy at the news, according to the hotel. Her lawyers thanked the police force and the hotel teams for their prompt and thorough investigation.

The Malaysian tourist, who arrived in Paris on Thursday, reported the disappearance of the ring after she discovered it was missing from the table in her room. She had left it there while she went for a shopping spree in the city. When she returned to her room around 11:30 am, the ring was gone.

The customer was concerned that one of the hotel employees might have stolen the valuable jewel. After a thorough search of the five-star hotel, the ring was eventually found in a vacuum cleaner bag, leading to a hypothesis that it may have been accidentally sucked in during the cleaning of the room.

An investigation into “theft in a dwelling place” had been assigned to the brigade in charge of combating organized theft, according to media reports. Now that the ring has been recovered, the public prosecutor will have to decide whether to close the case or continue the investigation. The client, who has left Paris for London, will return to the French capital to retrieve her ring, which is currently in the hands of the police. The Ritz offered her three complimentary nights at the hotel as compensation, though she did not wish to take advantage of it.
