The city elects three new deputies, Mélody Tonolli, Nicolas Bonnet-Ouladj, and Thomas Chevandier

Their names are finally known: after several weeks of suspense and backstage negotiations, the Paris Council has elected new deputies, following the departure of three of them who were elected after the senatorial elections. Communist Jacques Baudrier, in charge of construction, will now handle housing; socialist Antoine Guillou will oversee cleanliness; and Anne-Claire Boux, current deputy for disadvantaged neighborhoods from the Les Ecologistes group, will be responsible for health. This game of musical chairs brings in three new names: ecologist Mélody Tonolli, communist Nicolas Bonnet-Ouladj, and socialist Thomas Chevandier.

To recall, ecologist Anne Souyris was in charge of public health, communist Ian Brossat handled housing, and socialist Colombe Brossel was responsible for cleanliness. The balance between parties is therefore preserved.

Human resources, previously managed by Antoine Guillou, will now be handled by Olivia Polski. Responsibility for commerce will be taken over by Nicolas Bonnet-Ouladj, the president of the communist group, who recently published the book “Fabriquer à Paris”. The position of deputy in charge of construction, which Jacques Baudrier had to give up, was the most unclear during discussions. It will now be taken over by Thomas Chevandier of the Socialist Party. Mélody Tonolli (Les Ecologistes) will take on urban policies, replacing Anne-Claire Boux.

“A very successful election and a promising future, the session of the Paris Council is now closed!”, concluded Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo. The list of new deputies proposed by the mayor received 86 votes out of 96 voters and 163 registered members.
