The Brothers Speak on Bares for Rares Scandal Amid Trader Ridicule

Traders laughed at? "Bares for Rares" scandal: Now the brothers are speaking

Brothers Sebastian and Oliver Kester recently appeared on the ZDF show “Bares for Rares” to sell a designer chair called “The Harp”, an object from the sixties designed by Danish Jørgen Høvelskov that they inherited from their mother. They had initially asked for a price between 6,000 and 8,000 euros, but the experts on the show valued the chair at only 2,000 to 3,000 euros. The resulting offer from a dealer ended up being only 1,550 euros, which the brothers found to be much lower than other offers their mother had received. As a result, the brothers declined the offer and laughed at the situation, causing some confusion and misunderstandings on TV.

However, the brothers have since clarified that they were not laughing at the dealer, Christian Vechtel, but rather at the situation itself. Sebastian works as a seller of private jets, while Oliver is a film producer, so they were not experiencing any financial hardship. The low offer on the chair simply did not meet their expectations, especially given the high emotional value of the chair to their family.

The Kester brothers emphasize that they have the utmost respect for people and did not mean to come across as arrogant or disrespectful. Rather, they were representing their point of view as sellers and hoping to get a fair price for the chair. They maintain that other offers for the chair were well above the 1,550 euro price on the show, and they would rather leave the chair where it is than sell it for such a low amount.

Overall, the Kester brothers caused a stir on “Bares for Rares” but have since clarified their intentions and points of view. While the situation may have seemed tense on TV, the brothers hope to move forward with respect and understanding.
