Tanja Szewczenko’s 40-year separation from her late father brings her to tears

Tanja Szewczenko cries for dead dad: she didn't see him for 40 years

Former figure skater and actress, Tanja Szewczenko, has shared heartbreaking news with her fans. In a very personal and touching message, she revealed that she recently found out about her father’s passing. “I want to say goodbye. Take care dad…your daughter Tanja,” she wrote.

Tanja’s parents separated when she was still a child, and her mother, Vera, got sole custody. “Both had their personal reasons and then everyone went their own way,” she said. The last time she saw her father was on her 6th birthday, almost forty years ago.

As a classic child of divorce, Tanja thought she had consciously come to terms with growing up without her father, but finding out about his death hit her hard. She burst into tears and was emotionally thrown off track.

In a farewell post on social media, Tanja shared some childhood photos of her with her father, reminiscing about a time that was long ago. “Even though I haven’t seen my father for almost 40 years…” she said. The news made her realize how grateful she is for her own small family – husband Norman and their three children.

Tanja’s childhood without a healthy family was challenging, but she has found comfort and happiness in forming one of her own. She hopes to cherish the memories of her father and hold onto the love and support of her family during this difficult time.
