The new

After 10 years, Jan-Gregor Kremp is leaving his role as “The Old One” Richard Voss on “Der Alte”. Thomas Heinze will be replacing him in the upcoming episodes. In an interview with TAG24, Heinze spoke about his new role and the changes it brings, including a new team dynamic and a different approach to leadership. He also discussed his love for the show and his excitement to take on the role of an investigator.

Heinze revealed that he was not surprised when he was offered the role of Caspar Bergmann, as he had always wanted to play the part. He considered “Der Alte” to be an absolute cult classic and one of the oldest series on German television. The actor, who is a first-generation viewer of the show, said that he loved it because it was the counterpart to “Der Kommissar”.

When asked about the changes that come with his role as Bergmann, Heinze responded that he was working in a new constellation, with a smaller team and a new pathologist played by Sidonie von Krosigk. He is also a different boss than Kremp’s character, with a more impatient and brash demeanor. On the topic of his height, Heinze revealed that he sometimes requires a small pedestal next to his shorter co-star, Stephanie Stumph.

Heinze also discussed his training for the show, admitting that he enjoys playing a cop and testing his skills in questioning suspects. He had previously acquired some experience in shooting and police work during his time on “Blochin” with Jürgen Vogel. Heinze aims to play Bergmann for as long as he continues to enjoy the part and if the audience enjoys his performance as well.

The last episode with Kremp as “The Old One” will air on ZDF this Friday at 8:15 p.m., while Heinze’s first episode will air on March 24. The new episode is already available on the ZDF media library.
