Social Housing: Three Social Landlords in the City of Paris Warn Tenants against Subletting during the Paris Olympics

In recent days, the three social housing providers in the City of Paris – Paris Habitat, RIVP (Real Estate Agency of the City of Paris), and Élogie Siemp – have sent a letter to their 216,000 tenants, in the capital and surrounding areas, at the behest of City Hall. The letter serves as a warning against subletting, a practice prohibited by law but encouraged by platforms like Airbnb, especially with the upcoming Olympics. This letter, enclosed with the rent receipt, which varies slightly between providers, has surprised some and even sparked a small rebellion in some public housing estates.
