A fatal attack. Danish rider Mattias Skjelmose Jensen (Lidl-Trek) won the 6th stage of Paris-Nice on Friday, March 8th, beating the two Americans Matteo Jorgenson (Jumbo-Visma) and Brandon McNulty (UEA Emirates). McNulty took the overall lead in the competition, overtaking Jorgenson and Lucas Plapp. The previous 2nd place rider, Santiago Buitrago, fell during the stage and had to change his bike, losing two minutes in the general classification.

In today’s stage, there are five climbs of second and third category and a sprint a few kilometers before the finish. The current leader of the 2024 edition of the Race to the Sun, Lucas Plapp, and other top riders (Santiago Buitrago, 2nd; Remco Evenepoel, 5th; Primoz Roglic, 15th) will have to resist the attacks.

The Alpes-Maritimes and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence regions have winding roads and challenging ascents, making it ideal for aggressive and explosive riders known as “warriors” in the cycling world.

The stage profile includes a tough climb up Colle-sur-Loup with 1.8 km at 10% gradient less than 20 km from the finish, setting the stage for exciting attacks before the sprint in Tourrettes-sur-Loup. The stage will be broadcast live on France 3 from 3:10 pm.

Please note that several roads will be closed on Friday due to the 8-hour race between 8 am and 6 pm, especially around Pont-du-Loup.
