Security perimeters during the Games: The

Red Perimeter The red perimeter is a protection zone where motorized access is prohibited, except with specific authorizations. Pedestrians, bicycles, scooters, can access the red perimeter without justification. During road races, cycling and pedestrian traffic will be prohibited on the race routes and also disrupted near the routes. While pedestrian traffic on sidewalks will remain possible, crossing points will be set up for pedestrians, cyclists, and scooters (by foot) to cross the competition routes. These crossing points will be open for defined periods of time. It may be necessary to wait a few minutes before crossing, depending on the crowds and the progress of the race. Crossing points will be identified along the route to allow emergency vehicles to cross while preserving the safety of athletes and spectators. No vehicle will be able to enter the route, except for emergency services.

I am an individual / resident who wants to access the red perimeter The red perimeter only concerns motorized vehicles. I can freely access the red perimeter on foot, by bike, or with a scooter during the entire duration of the Olympic and Paralympic Games without justification. Bike-sharing services (Vélib’, Lime, etc.) remain active throughout the Games. Bike parking areas located in the red perimeters remain accessible. However, be aware that during road races, cycling will be prohibited on the course and pedestrian traffic disrupted. While pedestrian traffic on sidewalks will remain possible, crossing points will be set up for pedestrians to cross the competition routes. These points will be open for defined periods of time. It may be necessary to wait a few minutes before crossing, depending on the crowds and the progress of the race. There are no restrictions for cargo bikes during the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and access to the red perimeter can be done without a specific justification. Crossing zones are currently being defined and will be communicated later. Some roads may be restricted. Please note, during road races, cycling will be prohibited on the route. The metro will operate normally throughout the Games. Only the Tuileries, Concorde, and Champs-Elysées Clémenceau stations will be closed (exact dates are being studied) due to the competition venue setup (service and connections will not be provided). Other stations may also close to secure road races or Opening Ceremonies. Bus routes will be diverted outside the red perimeters. This is being processed by RATP, in collaboration with the Prefecture of Police, to potentially maintain essential routes.

In the red perimeter, motorized four-wheel and two-wheel vehicle access is restricted and limited to authorized personnel, emergency services, and accredited individuals, after presenting valid justification to the police from specific entry points in the perimeter. For authorized persons, prior registration on the dedicated online platform set up by the Prefecture of Police in April 2024 will be required to obtain a digital pass (in the form of a QR Code). For those facing digital difficulties, a dedicated system will be provided by the City (details will be specified later). Accredited Paris 2024 vehicles will not need to register on the platform, as their accreditation will be sufficient. Crossing zones within the perimeter are currently being defined and will be communicated later (1st semester of 2024). Except for emergency situations, motorized access in the red zone – when authorized derogatorily – can only occur during pre-defined time slots authorized by the Prefecture (currently under definition).
