PSG proposes to play the Champions Trophy in Paris

After discussions about Thailand, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Kinshasa, the Champions Trophy could finally be played… at the Parc des Princes.

Just a few weeks before kickoff, the much-anticipated Champions Trophy match still has no host stadium. After multiple proposals for relocation, it was in the DRC, in Kinshasa, that PSG and Toulouse could have met on January 3, 2024. However, the 80,000-seat Martyrs of Pentecost stadium has a synthetic pitch that is delaying the decision. Despite promises of installing a hybrid field, Ligue president Vincent Labrune rejected the proposal. Time is passing and the decision is taking longer. This is why both clubs have proposed their own stadium to host the final.

PSG proposes to play in the capital

For Paris Saint-Germain, the match should take place in Paris, in the capital. But with the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games, the Stade de France is closing its doors to football matches until next year. A setback that works in favor of the Parisians, who have hastened to propose another stadium in the capital: the Parc des Princes. But Toulouse is not going to give up. The club from the south of France also wants to propose its stadium for the reception of the match. The LFP is expected to make its final decision in the coming days.
