Pro-Palestinian Manifestation: Paris Police Prefecture Does Not Ban Upcoming Gathering

The Paris police prefecture does not prohibit the pro-Palestinian demonstration scheduled for this Saturday in the capital, it said in a statement published on Thursday evening. The procession is set to march from Place de la République to Place de la Nation between 2pm and 7pm. Prefect Laurent Nuñez emphasizes that he has reminded the organizers “of their responsibility as declarants” and has “urged them to calm down”.

“No overflow will be tolerated”

“No overflow will be tolerated,” says the Paris police prefect. He plans to implement a “substantial public order device” and “the capture, recording and transmission of images by means of cameras installed on drones by the police services”.

Last week, a previous pro-Palestinian demonstration was banned in Paris. Several thousand people still gathered at Place du Châtelet, particularly to demand an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, which was targeted by retaliatory attacks from Israel against Hamas and the attacks on October 7. During this prohibited gathering, 21 people were arrested by the police and over 1,350 were fined.
