Presentation: The Great Trek to Paris

As the Olympic and Paralympic Games of Paris 2024 approach, the French Hiking Federation (FFRandonnée), labeled Terre de Jeux, is launching an exceptional event: “The Great Hike to Paris.”

This unprecedented initiative aims to unite walkers and hikers from all over France, starting from 16 metropolitan cities across 7 main routes, to converge towards the capital from Saturday, January 13 to Sunday, May 12, 2024.

The Great Hike to Paris is organized under the patronage of the French National Commission for UNESCO as part of its “In Shape for Life” program.

In 2024, the FFRandonnée is organizing the Great Hike to Paris to celebrate the Olympic Games and encourage the practice of walking and hiking, a sport activity favored by 27 million French people.

From the beginning of the year, ambassador hikers will depart for 7 major crossings of France, from 16 metropolitan and overseas cities. The departures spread over several months from these 16 Olympic or symbolic cities, will allow participants to discover exceptional routes, using carefully marked GR® trails by FFRandonnée volunteers.

This unprecedented initiative aims to strengthen the links between sports, nature, and collective celebration, highlighting the diversity of French landscapes and cultures. Beyond the athletic aspect, the Great Hike to Paris is a unique opportunity to promote health, well-being, respect for the environment, and to transmit the values ​​advocated by FFRandonnée for more than 75 years to a wide audience. It also aims to strengthen the sense of community among the many hikers who will participate in this adventure.

With over 10,000 kilometers across France (580 stages), the Great Hike to Paris will be an unforgettable experience, combining sports, nature, and sharing.

The departures will be spread from January 13 to April 20, 2024, with the goal of all coming together in Paris on May 10, 2024.

Each of these itineraries is described on the MaRando app, the official and free app developed by the FFRandonnée, including the details of the stages from the departure points to Paris (quickly accessible with the keyword search “GRvP”). You will also find the program of locally organized events that will take place along the stages.
