Porsche and Frauscher Collaborate to Create High-Performance Electric Yachts

Porsche and Frauscher build high-performance electric yachts

Sports car manufacturer Porsche, along with Austrian boatyard Frauscher, is collaborating on the development of an electric yacht. Named the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom Air, the electric boat is based on the Frauscher 858 Fantom Air day cruiser. The yacht will measure 8.67 m in length and 2.49 m in width, providing space for up to nine people. It will feature luxurious amenities, including a bathing area, sunbathing area, and upholstered benches. The yacht’s steering wheel, main console, and displays have been designed by Porsche’s FA Porsche design studio.

The drive technology for the electric yacht has been adapted from the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) used in Porsche’s road vehicles. The system will feature powerful electric motors powered by lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of approximately 100 kWh. Charging can be done at both DC fast charging stations and AC stations. Porsche has not provided details on the maximum speed or pricing, but 25 units will be released in a first edition, with deliveries beginning in 2024. The electric yacht is suitable for rough waters and can be pre-ordered through Frauscher, who will handle construction, sales, and customer service. The yacht is designed for use as a day cruiser or as a tender boat for super yachts.
