Police chief of Paris requests an administrative investigation after a violent arrest by Brav-M officers

The prefect of police has requested the opening of an administrative investigation after a video of the violent arrest of an individual in Paris by two police officers was spread on social media, according to a report by “Libération”.

On Sunday evening, after the summary expulsion of 200 isolated and homeless teenagers from a small piece of sidewalk, these young people were pursued in the streets by the BRAV-M. In the video, one of them is brutally thrown to the ground by a police officer.

On Tuesday, the aid organization for refugees Utopia 56 shared a video of about twenty seconds on X, formerly Twitter, showing two police officers wearing motorcycle helmets trying to immobilize an individual. The person is first kicked, and then violently thrown to the ground by one of the officers.

These events occurred “Sunday evening, after the summary expulsion of 200 isolated and homeless teenagers from a small piece of sidewalk”, and who were then “pursued in the streets by the Brav-M” (the Motorized Brigade for the Repression of Violent Action), according to the organization, which stated that it would take legal action.

“The prefect, after seeing the video shared by Utopia 56, has requested that an administrative investigation be conducted to identify the police officers and establish the circumstances of the incident,” the prefecture told AFP.

The prosecutor’s office, when contacted by AFP, indicated on Tuesday that it was “closely” awaiting the report announced by Utopia 56 which it had not yet received.
