Pol Espargaro’s Condition After Shocking Fall at MotoGP World Championship

MotoGP: shock fall at the motorcycle world championship - that's how Pol Espargaro is doing

Bad fall for Pol Espargaro at the start of the MotoGP season in Portimao, Portugal. During the second practice session on Friday afternoon, the GasGas pilot had a crash that resulted in injuries. Espargaro broke the rear of his machine while braking and was then thrown off his machine. The Spaniard then steered into the gravel bed at high speed and flew through the air several times until he crashed into the tire wall.

Espargaro was then treated for minutes at the scene of the accident, and the session was red-flagged. On Friday evening, an update on Espargaro’s condition was released: neurologically, everything is fine, and there are no injuries in the neck and neck area. However, the Spaniard suffered a serious contusion of the lungs. Although Dr. Angel Charte, MotoGP Medical Director, thinks that Espargaro will make a good recovery, appropriate tests need to be carried out to determine the extent of his injuries.

Team principal Herve Poncharal provided the latest information on Saturday morning, saying that Espargaro will be able to lead a normal life and ride MotoGP again, but it is not possible to say when that will happen.

The Portuguese Grand Prix took place on Sunday without Pol Espargaro.
