Poitevin Para Triathlete Geoffrey Wersy Dreams of a Medal

Geoffrey Wersy, a 32-year-old paratriathlete from Poitiers, has his sights set on competing in the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. Born with hemiplegia affecting his left upper and lower limbs, Wersy is currently ranked 6th in the world in his category, with the top nine athletes earning a spot in the 2024 competition.

A five-time French champion in the PTS2 category, Wersy is gearing up for a potential debut at the Paralympic Games on September 1st. He expressed his pride at the prospect of representing his country, his federation, and his supporters at the event, which will be held in France.

Despite experiencing some challenges at a recent event in Pontevedra, where he finished fifth due to a change in the format, Wersy remains focused on his goal of securing a medal at the Paralympic Games.

To prepare for the demanding event, Wersy dedicates 15 to 20 hours per week to training, with the potential for increased training time leading up to the Games. He juggles his training regimen with his job at Eaux de Vienne-Siveer, emphasizing the need for intense preparation to achieve his Olympic aspirations. Wersy’s dedication and commitment demonstrate his determination to make a mark in the paratriathlon competition.
