Pascal Praud speaks out against free tickets in Seine-Saint-Denis, Troussel responds

The CNews presenter, Pascal Praud, discusses the Olympic Games in Seine-Saint-Denis. Pascal Praud, the host of CNews, brought up the topic of the 2024 Olympic Games, specifically about the free tickets being distributed to residents of the Île-de-France region. Praud questioned why Seine-Saint-Denis would receive more tickets than other areas like Loire-Atlantique, expressing his frustration on air.

Stéphane Troussel, the president of the Seine-Saint-Denis department, responded to Praud’s comments on Twitter. He defended the decision to provide 180,000 tickets to residents, highlighting the extensive infrastructure and events planned for the Olympics in the region. Troussel criticized Praud for comparing Seine-Saint-Denis to Loire-Atlantique.

The Seine-Saint-Denis department announced that 150,000 free tickets would be given to residents for Olympic and Paralympic events, along with 28,000 tickets for the opening ceremony on July 26. This opportunity allows a significant portion of the population to participate in the Games.

The free tickets are intended for various groups, including students, seniors, people with disabilities, those distant from employment, and local government employees. The tickets for the opening ceremony are specifically reserved for those directly affected by the Games, such as residents in areas impacted by event preparation.

The tickets are made available through contributions from the State, the Paris-2024 organizing committee, the Île-de-France region, and ticket purchases. Seine-Saint-Denis invested over a million euros to secure 40,000 tickets for residents to attend the events. The region will host a significant portion of the Olympic competitions.

Overall, the distribution of free tickets aims to ensure that a diverse range of residents from Seine-Saint-Denis can participate in the excitement of the 2024 Olympic Games.
