Paris to Have Largest Lidl Store in the Capital

Lidl has obtained approval to expand one of its stores in Paris, located in the 12th arrondissement. The Commission départementale d’aménagement commercial (CDAC) has given the green light for the expansion, which will increase the current sales area from 991.04 m² to a total of 1,623.24 m². This is good news for the purchasing power of the local residents.

The project received no opposition from the commission, with all members giving their approval. Once completed, this store will become the largest in the capital, surpassing the one located opposite Montparnasse station, which is approximately 1,500 m² and is set to open in early 2023.

The members of the commission believe that “the project will not harm local businesses and will promote commercial diversity by contributing to the strengthening of the purchasing power of the neighborhood’s residents.” The majority of the work will take place inside the current store.

Lidl’s largest store in France is located in Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine), with over 2,350 m² of retail space. In November 2022, Lidl also opened a second store in Châtenay-Malabry, with a sales area of 1,746 m².

According to Kantar, Lidl has a 7.5% market share in France, far behind its main competitor, E.Leclerc, in the battle for prices.
