Paris-Nice: 7th Stage to Finish in Different Town Due to Weather Conditions

The Paris-Nice stage will not be in Auron this year. The organizers have had to change the route of the seventh stage, which was meant to go from Nice to Auron (1614m) on Saturday, passing through La Colmiane (1500m).

Due to the heavy rain and snow expected from 1200m onwards by midday, the stage will be modified for safety reasons. The riders will still finish with an ascent, but it will be the shorter La Madone d’Utelle climb, reaching 1165 meters.

This is not the first time such a change has been made for the “race to the sun”, as the 2016 edition also finished at this summit with a victory for Russian rider Ilnur Zakarin. The stage, originally planned to cover 173 kilometers, will be shortened and the start time will be delayed.
