Paris: Motorcycles on the Sidewalk, Heavyweight Ballet… Avenue Leclerc’s One-Way System Frustrates

The residents of the Jean-Moulin avenue in the XIVth arrondissement of Paris are resisting the increase in traffic caused by the permanent one-way direction of the General-Leclerc avenue in the incoming direction.

In preparation for the Paris Games, construction work has been underway since January 15th to ease congestion at the Porte d’Orléans and create two one-way cycle lanes as part of the City’s Bike Plan. According to a preliminary study by the Lutèce central operating center (PC), cited by Guillaume Durand, deputy to the mayor of the XIVth arrondissement, half of the traffic recorded during peak hours on the General-Leclerc avenue in the outgoing direction is expected to be absorbed by Jean-Moulin avenue.
