Paris City Hall responds to criticisms from strikers

The Eiffel Tower has been closed to the public due to an ongoing strike by staff since Monday, February 19. The majority shareholder of the Eiffel Tower, the Paris City Hall, has been accused of mismanagement by the monument’s staff, who have been on strike since Monday. In response to the complaints from the union representatives of the Eiffel Tower, the city administration has defended itself, stating that the monument is in very good condition and that it is a continuous process to keep it renovated due to its high daily visitor numbers.

This issue arose after technicians of the tower pointed out that there was a “14-year delay” in painting, a claim that the administration denies, saying that the monument is in very good condition. Thus, the situation remains unresolved but the city has expressed its confidence in the operating company to resolve the issue through social dialogue.
