Round of 16: PSG – Brest summary

The capital club logically advanced to the round of 16 on Wednesday after two consecutive failures at this stage of the competition.

For the first time since 2021, PSG will play in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France. Luis Enrique’s players dominated Stade Brestois (3-1) on Wednesday, February 7, at Parc des Princes. The victory was quickly assured, but there was a slight doubt in the second half. After goals from Kylian Mbappé and Danilo Pereira, scored one after the other (34th and 37th), Brest reduced the gap through Steve Mounié (65th) and held hope of a comeback for a while.

But the expulsion of Lilian Brassier (69th), after two yellow cards and a dangerous tackle on Kylian Mbappé’s ankle, ended it immediately. A week before the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Real Sociedad, images of the Parisian star lying on the ground, then limping once on his feet, sent chills through the spectators at the Parisian stadium. But Mbappé never headed to the bench. He finished the game and even participated in the construction of the third and final Parisian goal, scored by Gonçalo Ramos (90th+2).
